Collections
The following collections and services are available. Please ask for help if you cannot find the items or information you require.
Fiction is arranged on the shelf in alphabetical order by the first four letters of the author's surname. Paperback novels are shelved in categories on stands.
Non fiction is arranged by subject according to the Dewey Decimal Classification.
CD's are available. They are arranged into Popular, Rock, Jazz, Classical, World, Youth and Children's categories.
DVD's are available for loan. They are arranged in categories such as Movies, Children's, Hobbies, Health, Travel, Music, Language and Computers.
Magazines in English and other community languages are available.
Reference (not for loan) - these items are available for use in the library only. These include: encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks, atlases, etc; LIAC, and a collection of books.
Drug info @ your library Di@yl provides up to date information about alcohol and drugs on this website and through local public libraries in New South Wales.

The Local History Collection includes books, maps, newspaper cuttings, Council publications, etc relating to the Ashfield Municipality. Other records include the Sands Directory held at Ashfield.
A Community language collection of adult books is available in Chinese, Italian, and Gujarati. Other languages are available upon request via Inter Library Loan from the State Library of NSW. Find Community languages holdings by library or language here.
Children’s and Youth Collections
The Library provides books, CD's, DVD's and Toys for children including novels, picture books and non fiction books, as well as a collection of books and periodicals to assist parents.
Books are in alphabetical order by authors surname and broken down into the following collections.
Picture Books and Baby Books: Pink Label Board and picture books for mother and child to share together.
Beginner Reader: Green Label Simple readers and graphic novels for those learning to read.
I Can Read: Yellow Label Short chapter books and graphics novels to build reading confidence.
Children's Fiction: White Label Fiction books, graphic novels, and talking books to expand the mind.
Youth: Orange Label Fiction & non-fiction books, magazines, graphic novels to support life skill development and broaden the mind.
Parenting: Red Label A collection of books, magazines and AV material that are designed as tools for parenting.
Toys This collection is located at Haberfield Library.
