Methods of Payment – Rates and Charges

Ashfield Council offers customers a range of options for rate payments.

Payment via Automatic Direct Debit – Cheque/Savings Account

  1. This is the most cost-effective method to pay your rates.
  2. Council will automatically deduct the amount due, either by quarterly instalments or the total annual amount on the due date. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments can also be made by arrangement with Council

Payment at Westpac – Cash or Cheque

  1. Payments may be made at any Westpac branch in Australia
  2. You do not need to have an account with Westpac to make your payment
  3. Complete the details on the bank deposit slip at the bottom of your rate notice
  4. Take this notice to any Westpac branch to make your payment.

Payment in Person at Australia Post – Cash, cheque or EFTPOS

  1. Take your rate notice to any post office to make your payment
  2. Phone 131 816 and follow the prompts, or go to www.postbillpay.com.au for further information.

BPAY - Payment via Telephone or Internet

  1. This is available for payments via telephone or internet
  2. Contact your financial institution’s telephone or internet banking facility for details
  3. Quote Council’s Biller Code 49478
  4. Quote your reference Number shown under the BPAy details on your rate notice.
   
 

Payment via Internet – AMEX, VISA or Mastercard

  1. Coming soon, pay your rates directly online. In the meantime, please visit www.postbillpay.com.au.

Payment via Telephone – AMEX, VISA or Mastercard

  1. Phone 1300 367 767 and follow the prompts
  2. Enter your assessment number, your Credit Card details, and the amount you wish to pay.
   
 

Payment at Council

  1. Visit the cashier at Council’s Customer Service Centre between 8:40am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. Payments can be made via cash, cheque EFTPOS and Credit Card*.
   
 

Payment by Mail

  1. Cheques must be made payable to Ashfield Council
  2. Only the tear-off slip from your rate notice is required to be forwarded with your cheque payment
  3. If you require a receipt, please tick on the front of the rate notice and return your notice in full.
   
  *  A 1% surcharge applies to all payments made via credit cards.
