I am pleased to welcome you to the Ashfield Local Government area. Ashfield Council has been a champion for the Ashfield area for over 135 years. Our historic suburb was once home to former Prime Minister Henry Parkes, and is now one of the most culturally diverse Municipalities in Inner Sydney. To help you get settled in to the area, Ashfield Council has developed a special ‘Welcome Kit' to provide you with information about the range of services and facilities on offer to local residents. The pack includes information about Library services, the Aquatic Centre, the Civic Centre re-development, garbage collection and council clean-up services, and a copy of our Children's Directory and Ageing and Disability Directory. You can download the information below.
Given the size of the municipality, Council has two different garbage collection days. To find out what day garbage is collected in your street and obtain a collection calendar, please call our customer service centre on Tel: 9716 1800.
Throughout the year, Council also hosts a diverse range of community events from weekly Storytime and Author Talks at our Libraries to our annual Carnival of Cultures celebration. Information on these and other events is regularly updated on this site and you can also find a host of other information including recent press releases, details of Council meetings, and planning and development matters. If you would like further information on the services Council offers, you can contact Council on 9716 1800, drop into our office at 260 Liverpool Road, Ashfield or browse this site.
Wishing you all the best for the future.
Councillor Ted Cassidy PSM
